Scala is
one of the oldest town of Amalfi Coast. It followed, as the other
town of the coast, the historical Amalfi's sort. |
|

In
the beginning Scala was a farmer place and it hadn't a town center.
But, because all people took part to the trade activities
of the Republich of Amalfi, thanks to the "Tabula
de Amalpha"
first maritim code, the six hamlets, began "Civitas
Scalensis".

Scala
began very important to Amalfi's Dukedom,thanks to its castles. In
fact, when the Dukedm subscribed a commercial alleance with Pisa
(1126), the treaty menzioned all the most important place of the coast,
and Scala was one of these.
