little town is situated near Amalfi, which is divided to tne "Aureo
mountain". It had the same historical destiny of Amalfi Republic. |

The
church of S. Maria Maddalena, built during the XIII century,
its origin is due to a wish of the Atrani people, to thank the "Virgin
Mary", who liberated them from the saracen invaders. In this church
we can see two
bronze gate,
twins of those Amalphitain, made in 1087, thanks to an Atrani trader called
Pantaleone Viaretta. |

The
church of SS.Salvatore de Birecto, built
in the X century; in this church during the Republic period the dukes of
Amalfi were crowned. In the church we can see a marble "pluteo"
made at the end of XI century, with some alto-rilievo in Byzantine
style.

the
Church of Santa Maria del Bando, built in the XII century, it is
placed above the Atrani town, near the "torre dello Ziro".
Is called del Bando, because from this place, the Amalfi's dukes
declared their sentences during the Republic period.

panorama of Atrani is very suggestive. All the houses built one over the
other, looks like the Nativity Scenery.
